Utility prices increasing on July 1

If you live in Colorado Springs, your utility rates are going up starting July 1. Today the Colorado Springs City Council passed a resolution increasing electric and natural gas prices across the city. This is due to rising gas costs across the nation. The council discussed two possible plans but opted to go with the lower rate increase. Colorado Springs Utilities says the price of natural gas has gone up over 150 percent since the beginning of the year. Colorado Springs Utilities is encouraging customers to practice energy-saving techniques, especially during the summer months.
