UTPB hosting variety of events
Apr. 26—Wolfcamp Catalogue, a solo exhibition of Amy Kim's new work, will have an opening reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday.
Kim is a lecturer and director of the Nancy Fyfe Cardozier Gallery. The show is a component of the UTPB Geoscience Symposium and the exhibition will take place in the Wolfcamp Exhibition Trailer outside the main entrance of the UTPB Engineering Building, 1310 N. FM 1788 in Midland.
This exhibition was sponsored by UTPB Geosicence, College of Arts and Sciences, and UTPB Office of Research and Sponsored Projects. Kevin Chua (PhD), associate professor of art history at Texas Tech University, curated the exhibition.
The fifth annual Geoscience Symposium will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday in the Henry Lecture Hall on the first floor of the UTPB Engineering Building.
Keynote speakers are David Cannon, senior vice president at Diamondback Energy and Denise Cox, president of Storm Energy.
The Ballet Folklórico Spring Show is set for Friday. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 7 p.m. at the Wagner Noel Performing Arts Center.
Kicking off the Cinco De Mayo season, the UTPB Ballet Folklorico team will demonstrate the traditions of Mexico through colors, music, and dance. The event is free and open to the community.
The grand opening of the Basin Sports Complex & Kite Fest will be from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday in the community sports fields off loop 338.
There will be games, food trucks, prizes, and more. Plus, UTPB's Student Government Association will host Kite Fest on the fields. The event is free and open to the community.
