UW Health debuts new mobile health unit in northern Illinois

ROCKFORD — UW Health is bringing healthcare directly to patients with its first ever mobile health unit in Rockford.

The mobile health unit is a customized van staffed by medical professionals ready to serve those in need where and when they need it.

There is no cost to the patient and no appointment is necessary.

The mobile health unit will provide mobile, non-urgent medical care and support services including health screenings, preventive care, well-child clinics, vaccine clinics, basic first aid, sports physicals, car seat safety checks, bicycle safety, health education materials, naloxone training and distribution, and medication management support.

UW Health plans to bring the mobile health unit to community events that take place at community centers, homeless shelters, food pantries, neighborhood parks, school events and sporting events.

A ribbon cutting ceremony for the mobile health unit was held on Thursday.
