UWEC and Mayo teaming up for new health program

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – UW Eau Claire and Mayo Clinic Health System have teamed up to teach about the medical field. This innovative program will be held on 6 consecutive Mondays at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.

The program is free to students and high schoolers over the age of 16 and $50 to all other community members. Each week will cover a new topic to help teach the students about the human body. The classes begin with a one-hour lecture and end with a 30-minute interactive activity.

Dr. Timothy Young from Mayo says people who join this program will get a lot out of it, “We’ll assume no one has any medical knowledge when they come to this, and so we will start with the very basic concepts because we understand we all have to start somewhere. None of us knew anything about medicine before we started. So, we’ve all been there and we understand what that’s like.”

The program begins APRIL 1st.
