Vaccine appointments difficult to make as new statewide system expands

A nationwide shortage of COVID-19 vaccines is making it difficult for millions of people to get an appointment. In California, the statewide vaccine rollout has faced criticism for its rocky start. Last month, Gov. Gavin Newsom tasked insurer Blue Shield with developing a centralized system to help with appointments, tracking and distribution. The state also launched the My Turn website to help people make appointments and find out when they’re eligible for a vaccine.
