Vachon family serving customers for almost 80 years

Nov. 28—BROOKLYN — The Vachon family has been serving customers in New England for almost eight decades.

The business started in 1945 with a gas station and small used car lot in Attleboro, Mass.

Over the next few decades, the business added a Mazda franchise and then a Mitsubishi dealership. A Buick, Pontiac and Cadillac store was opened in Attleboro in 1984 and in 1999, the family bought another Buick GMC dealership in Mansfield, Mass.

The Massachusetts dealerships were all sold over time, with the last one sold in 2019.

The family decided later to open businesses in Eastern Connecticut.

Lance Vachon currently owns four dealerships in Connecticut.

That includes a Chevrolet dealership at 512 Providence Rd. in Brooklyn, Ford dealership at 455 Providence Rd. in Brooklyn, Buick GMC dealership at 225 Middlesex Turnpike in Old Saybrook and GMC dealership at 139 Pomfret St. in Putnam.

According to the Vachon Ford website, the dealership cares about the customers and the condition of their vehicles.

" At Vachon, we strive for excellence in everything we do and welcome your presence in the dealership as well as your feedback on how we are doing," the website states. " We want to be your dealership and want you to feel like family when you are here, call us when you need something and be confident that you will be satisfied each and every time."

Customers can buy new or pre- owned cars from Vachon.

The dealerships also do emissions testing.

Vachon General Manager Joe Simon could not be reached for comment.
