Valentine’s Day Party at Children's Museum

DOVER — On Monday, Feb. 13, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Children’s Museum of New Hampshire members of all levels are invited to a special Member-Only Valentine’s Day Party. The museum will be decorated, and members can play in all their favorite exhibits, and also take part in some special games and activities. As always Members play for free, but please reserve your spots online. Be sure to sign in before adding anything to your cart. SOUTH BERWICK, Maine — Looking for a Valentine’s Day treat? Mixtape A Cappela will perform on Valentine’s Day, Feb.14, at South Berwick Public Library, 27 Young St. The concert will begin at 7 p.m. and is free to the public, courtesy of the Friends of the South Berwick Library. Mixtape A Cappella is a Seacoast-based group of young professionals who come together to share their love of voice and song.

Valentine’s Day Drop-In: Make a Mini Flower Arrangement

DOVER — On Tuesday, Feb. 14 at 10 a.m. come play at the Children’s Museum of NH and enjoy a special Valentine's Day activity, and make a mini flower arrangement to take home. We will be using real flowers to design small arrangements, and decorating the containers with stickers. This activity is part of the museum’s Learning Garden program sponsored by Whole Foods. Want to join in? Junior Science Class: Valentine’s Day Fun

DOVER — On Tuesday, Feb. 14 from 1:30 to 2:15 p.m. try out our popular Junior Science classes at the Children’s Museum of New Hampshire with this special one-class sampler. Interested families and returning scientists can try out Junior Science and see if it is a good fit Junior scientists (ages 3 ½ to 5 years old) will join this 45 minute Valentine’s Day-themed class and enjoy a story or felt board activity, a fun experiment, and a related art project to take home. This class will be held in our STEAM Lab, and families with siblings may opt to play on the second floor during the class time; please note that the museum is closed to the public on Tuesday afternoons. Grownups are welcome to stay in the building during class time. Cost for members is $10 per child; non-members $12 per child. Pre-registration is required. A Tea Tasting

BERWICK, Maine — On Wednesday, Feb. 15 at 6 p.m. at the Berwick Public Library, we will be tasting four teas at this event: a coconut oolong blend, a chocolate pu’erh blend, a strawberry elderberry blend, and a traditional flowering tea. Space is limited. Please contact the library to sign up.

Family Game Night

DOVER — On Wednesday, Feb. 15 at 6 p.m. join us the third Wednesday of every month to play a fun selection of card and board games, and meet other board game enthusiasts in the community. You’re also welcome to bring your own games. All ages welcome.

Caregiver Cafe

DOVER — On Wednesday, Feb. 15 at 10:30 a.m. join Cornerstone VNA at our monthly Caregiver Café to support Dover area family caregivers. Come for a morning of support, education and conversation. No RSVP required. February’s meeting will feature special speaker Katherine Michaud, a Behavioral Health Coordinator at Cornerstone VNA. Learn positive reinforcement strategies to minimize the impact of common cognitive changes seen in individuals with Dementia or Alzeheimer’s.

Hand Quilting Class

DOVER — On Thursday, Feb. 16 at 2 p.m. Have you ever wanted to learn how to quilt but felt intimidated?  This is the class for you. In this class you'll learn the basics of English Paper Piecing, a hand quilting technique that requires nothing more than fabric, paper, and thread. All supplies will be provided and no experience whatsoever is needed. Beginners are encouraged to attend. You'll leave class with a completed pin cushion and all the knowledge you need to start a larger quilting project if you enjoyed yourself. Sign up is needed.

STEM Saturday Event: Buildwave Workshop

DOVER — Want to foster your child's interest in STEM, while igniting their creative spark at the same time? Join us for a free workshop with Buildwave on Saturday, Feb. 18 at 2 p.m. in the Dover Public Library Lecture Hall. Buildwave is a creative building program that feels like a video game.

Engineer a fairytale

MILTON — On Saturday, Feb. 18, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. the Children’s Museum of New Hampshire invites children 5 to 11 years old to come to the Milton Free Public Library at 13 Main St., Milton Mills, for a fun filled journey where kids won’t just imagine a story, they’ll engineer it! Story explorers will visit four hands-on interactive stations where they can collaborate in groups to craft a boat for the Gingerbread Man, design a bridge for the Three Billy Goats, and test houses for the Three Little Pigs.

The hour-long program will wrap up with each participant creating a project to take home; their own parachute for Jack to jump down from the beanstalk. Younger children are welcome but will need a caregiver’s assistance. We are grateful to the Children’s Museum for bringing this fun program to us.

‘An Evening of Art & Chocolate’

KITTERY, Maine — It’s a feast for the senses at “An Evening of Art & Chocolate” to be held Saturday, Feb. 18, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Star Theatre/Kittery Community Center at 120 Rogers Road in Kittery, Maine. The event, which benefits Friends of the Earth, Sea & Space Center, will feature a silent auction with a wide range of art up for bid as well as delectable creations from local bakers, chocolatiers and dessert makers, and the upbeat sounds of popular local a capella group “The Stairwells.”

More than 50 art items will be showcased, including paintings, photographs, pottery, jewelry, pen and ink, metalwork and more with topics from nature to space. Guests will also enjoy chocolate temptations from Jacqueline’s Cake Shop, Gourmet Gift Baskets, William Poole Chocolatier and others. La Cascade du Chocolat has created a chocolate sculpture saluting earth, sea and space! There will be a cash bar and raffles for a Spicy Shark gift pack, two Irish-themed gift baskets, a gift basket from Gourmet Gift Baskets and and a “Wicked Tuna” TV show gift pack.

Yoga in Action’s 15th Annual Yoga Mala

DOVER — The Yoga Mala is an annual fundraising event which will be held on Sunday, Feb. 19, at Rivermill Landing, Dover, N.H. to support Yoga in Action. There will also be virtual access available via Zoom. The three-hour yoga session includes 108 Sun Salutations, meditation and restoration. The event will be followed by food and time to gather and connect. Yoga Mala is open to all levels of yoga students.
