The Vampire Diaries star Torrey DeVitto has announced her engagement to Jared LaPine.

The star appeared as Dr Meredith Fell in the third and fourth seasons of the CW show, featuring in a total of 12 episodes, and revealed earlier this week that she had gotten engaged to LaPine.

"Earlier this month at 5 pm on a weekday while walking the back trails at the farm, still in my PJs and goat boots, he got down on one knee, in what I hoped wasn't poison ivy, and asked for forever," she wrote on Instagram, with the photo roll showing the happy couple. "My answer was obvious. ❤️🔒"

The Vampire Diaries concluded in 2017 after eight seasons and 171 episodes, though there are rumours of the show being rebooted. Should those reports come true, one cast member who likely wouldn't return is Paul Wesley, with the star saying it would be a "hard pass."

"I would never do another vampire anything, period, let alone Vampire Diaries," said Wesley, who played Stefan Salvatore on the show. "I don't really miss anything about playing him, and I don't mean that in a [negative way]. Eight years is a long time, and I'm so glad to put that to rest."

"Because the show ran for such a long time, in order for it to not become monotonous, every season, he sort of had a different arc," he added about his character.

"At one point he was pure evil, and he started out as the good guy and then he ended as the good guy. But I liked the challenge of trying to keep the character fresh."

Another The Vampire Diaries star, Nina Dobrev, will lead the cast for Sick Girl, an R-rated comedy which recently unveiled its first trailer ahead of its release next month.
