Van Saun County Park's ice skating rink is open for winter fun

·1 min read

The coldest part of winter is here, with forecasts calling for subfreezing temperatures through the end of next week. Why not embrace it?

The open-air ice skating rink at Van Saun County Park in Paramus, which began as part of the Winter Wonderland event at the end of November, opened Friday for general skating. It will be available to the public until Feb. 20.

The hours of operation are Tuesdays through Fridays from 4 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

"While Bergen County’s Winter Wonderland festival is over, there is still plenty of opportunity left for families to experience winter family fun in Van Saun County Park," said Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco.

Although the hospitality tent, Menorah, Christmas tree, food trucks, north pole tent and carnival game section from Winter Wonderland are gone, the Let It GLOW: Holiday Lantern Spectacular at the Bergen County Zoo is still open through Jan. 30.

Let it Glow, which is sponsored by the Friends of the Bergen County Zoo in partnership with Tianyu Arts & Culture Inc., features traditional Chinese lanterns with a modern twist with hand-painted structures.

Ice skating tickets are $10 (plus $1.49 to book online) for hour-and-a-half sessions, and the admission includes skate rentals. Sessions for the first two weeks are now available for purchase at bergencountywinterwonderland.com. Tickets for Let it Glow can be purchased at eventbrite.com (search for Let it Glow).
