Vanderbilt baseball throws combined no-hitter against Minnesota

Vanderbilt baseball threw its fourth no-hitter in the past four full seasons Sunday in a 4-0 win over Minnesota.

Greysen Carter, Sam Hliboki, Ryan Ginther and Nick Maldonado combined for the no-hitter in the final game of the Cambria College Classic in Minneapolis. The Commodores (8-4) finished with a 2-1 record in the tournament, beating the Gophers and Maryland while losing to Nebraska.

Carter started the game and went 3⅓ innings, walking five and struck out three. He was relieved by Hliboki, who pitched 3⅔ innings with one walk, one hit batter and eight strikeouts. Ginther pitched one inning with no walks or strikeouts and Maldonado closed it out by getting three outs on just seven pitches, including a strikeout.

RJ Austin and Parker Noland were Vanderbilt's top offensive performers in the game, both going 2-for-4. Freshman Chris Maldonado also got his first collegiate hit with an RBI double in the seventh inning.

The Commodores also threw a combined no-hitter against Kentucky last season. They got a no-hitter from Jack Leiter in 2021 and Kumar Rocker in the 2019 super regional.
