Vanderbilt basketball plays its first of two HBCUs on Friday with Grambling State. Coach Jerry Stackhouse makes a point to schedule HBCUs as a show of support.
The Tigers (5-3) have had a rollercoaster start to their season, beating Colorado (which has a win over Tennessee) but losing to Arizona State, Grand Canyon and Incarnate Word.
While Grambling rates out as one of the worst offenses in the country, it has a solid defense that rates well at preventing shooting, blocking shots and forcing turnovers. The Tigers almost never shoot 3-pointers and play at a quick tempo.
The Commodores beat Pitt by a score of 75-74 on Wednesday.
