Vanderbilt football coach Clark Lea offered his condolences Tuesday to the victims of The Covenant School shooting in Nashville and offered support to the community following the Commodores' spring practice.

"I think as a native Nashvillian and someone who loves his community, I just wanted a message of support to The Covenant School and all those families that are impacted," Lea said. "As a parent, I can't imagine the level of grief you carry sending your child to school to not have them return, and on behalf of our program, just to say, obviously through my emotion, that we grieve with those families, we grieve with that community, we grieve with our Nashville community. We stand with you and we're here to support you in any way we can, and our hearts go out our prayers go out to all those affected."

On Monday, three students and three adults were killed in the shooting at the private Christian school in Green Hills. Several local churches held prayer vigils in support of the victims and some local high schools canceled games scheduled for Monday.

All of Vanderbilt's athletics events are continuing as scheduled.
