Vanderbilt's Jerry Stackhouse named Men's Basketball Coach of the Year by TSWA

Vanderbilt basketball coach Jerry Stackhouse was named Men's Basketball Coach of the Year in the state by the Tennessee Sports Writers Association, the school announced in a release Monday.

The award is voted on by media members and sports information directors in Tennessee.

It's the third award for Stackhouse this season. He also won the Ben Jobe Minority Coach of the Year award and SEC Co-Coach of the Year.

A Commodores coach has not won this award since its inception in 2008.

Under Stackhouse, Vanderbilt finished with a 22-15 record and the quarterfinals of the NIT, where it fell to UAB. The Commodores tied for fourth in the SEC with an 11-7 record and advanced to the SEC Tournament semifinals but missed out on the NCAA Tournament.

Vanderbilt last won more than 20 games in 2014-15 and last won 22 or more games in 2011-12 under Kevin Stallings.
