Vanessa Feltz opens up about split from Ben Ofoedu: ‘I won’t let the shock and sadness write me off’

Vanessa Feltz has shared her shock following her split from fiancé Ben Ofoedu after 16 years together.

The broadcaster, 60, believed that they would be together “til death do us part”, but has instead been left feeling “discombobulated” after it emerged that Ofoedu, 50, was allegedly unfaithful while touring UK holiday parks with his electronic dance music act.

She wrote in her column for the Daily Express that she will “not let the shock and sadness write me off.”

Choosing to focus on the good in her life, Feltz added: “I will cuddle my grandbabies, hit the town with my incredible girlfriends and I will, I fear, go on to make many more mistakes.”

The presenter previously said that her heart broke into “a million pieces” after her split and told TalkTV viewers on Monday that her 16-year relationship ending was a “horrible shock”.

The This Morning agony aunt said on her show: “I can’t be the only person in the country nursing a broken heart, can I?

“I am absolutely determined to put my best foot forward, to keep on trucking, all that sort of stuff. Keep calm and carry on.

“Having said all of this, obviously inside I’m feeling all sorts of things, no questions about it. Very hurt, very sad, terribly disappointed, worried about the future, all the normal stuff — of course I am.”

On Monday, Ofoedu broke his silence after it was revealed over the weekend that they called time on their relationship by posting a large heart-broken emoji on his Instagram Stories.

He also edited his bio to delete a link to Feltz’s Instagram account, @vanessafeltzofficial.

Now it just has a link to the Instagram page of Boyz on Block, an English and Irish group consisting of Ofoedu and former boyband members Abz Love, Dane Bowers and Shane Lynch.

Feltz and Ofoedu first got together in 2005 and over the years regularly made appearances together on-screen, at events and in magazines.

He got down on one knee a year after they started dating and while Feltz accepted his proposal, she admitted that her previous marriage had left a bad taste in her mouth.

Feltz has been married to doctor Michael Kurer, with whom she has two children. They were wed in 1983 but divorced in 2000.
