High School Musical just celebrated its 15th anniversary of the iconic series, which means it's also been 15 years since one of our favorite Disney couples took over our lives. Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens might have gone their separate ways, but that doesn't mean we're not obsessing over them even years later.

Casting directors Natalie Hart and Jason La Padura brought our favorite couple together on-screen as they auditioned to play Troy and Gabriella. And now they're sharing a very cute moment that seemed to have been the first spark between the former couple.

According to Natalie Hart, Vanessa was super nervous to audition with Zac when it came time to figure out final pairings.

"She was so smitten. She said, 'He’s too cute. I can’t read with him.' She had a meltdown," Hart revealed to Variety.

Even though Natalie got to see Vanessa's reaction to auditioning with Zac, their spark was also pretty obvious to everyone else.

Gary Marsh, president and chief creative officer of Disney Branded Television who was in charge of Disney Channel Worldwide during the HSM years also noted the chemistry between them right away.

"It’s easy to say in hindsight. But when they auditioned together, it was clear. It wasn’t even a close call," he said. "We saw the chemistry between them, and we were sold."

Unfortunately for all of us, the couple called it quits back in 2010, but at least we can always just rewatch the films if we want to see them together again.
