Kim Kardashian just claimed her viral “work harder” sound bite was taken out of context, but it looks like raw footage of her interview might suggest otherwise. To catch everyone up on this full-blown saga, Kim gave an interview with Variety in which she said, “I have the best advice for women in business: Get your fucking ass up and work. It seems like nobody wants to work these days.”

People obviously weren’t thrilled by Kim’s quote, which she then walked back in an interview with Good Morning America’s Robin Roberts, saying it was taken out of context:

“That statement that I said was without questions and conversation around it, and it became a sound bite really with no context,” Kim said. “In that sound bite, I came off of the notion in the question right before, which was, ‘After 20 years of being in the business, you’re famous for being famous.’ And my whole tone and attitude changed with the previous question that went into that question about, ‘What advice would you give to women?’”

Flash-forward to now, and Variety’s chief correspondent Elizabeth Wagmeister is pushing back on Kim’s statement, tweeting, “It’s not what she claims. I just reviewed the raw footage. The question was very direct: ‘What would be your advice for women in business?’ The question about being famous for being famous came after that question, actually.”

While the raw footage doesn’t appear to be available, you can watch Kim’s interview here and see the sound bite in the context of the rest of her answer about work ethic and building a successful business.
