Vast Cumbre Vieja Lava Flow Overtakes La Palma

Lava flowing from the Cumbre Vieja volcano on the Spanish island of La Palma had destroyed more than 1,800 buildings by October 14, according to reports.

Video shared by the Canary Islands Volcanological Institute (Involcan) shows hot rock crumbling from the front of the lava flow advancing in the neighborhood of La Laguna on Friday, according to Involcan.

Involcan said the lava flow front measured an average thickness of seven meters.
