Krajewski was accompanied by Catholic and Protestant bishops, and escorted by a Ukrainian soldier.

According to Krajewski, his party was traveling along a route through villages right next to three front lines, when their bus was hit by gunfire.

“I didn’t know where to run… because it’s not enough to run. You have to know where to go,” said Krajewski.

Fortunately, Krajewski and his entourage emerged unscathed.

This is the cardinal’s fourth humanitarian mission to Ukraine.
