The Vault closes on Carson in former Beehive space

A craft beer venture that sought to replace a South Side landmark with a serve-your-own brew setup that was likely a first in the region is no longer in business.

The Vault Taproom announced on its website that it is now “permanently closed,” providing no further details on the reason for the decision.

Seeking to cater to what had become an insatiable thirst for craft beer in the region, The Vault Taproom opened in the summer of 2019 at 1327 East Carson St., an address on the South Side’s business district long associated as the home of The Beehive, a coffee shop and later bar that had become an icon of the neighborhood dating back to the 1990s.

The Beehive announced its closure in 2018 after the business and the building were sold, with it later becoming know that The Vault would be the new operator.
