NEW BEDFORD — After closing in June, The Vault Music Hall & Pub will be reopening its doors in December with new plans for the Purchase Street venue's future.

“We’re excited to announce that going forward, The Vault (or Greasy Luck if you wish to still refer to it as that) will be available for private events,” owner Howie Mallowes wrote in a Facebook post.

“Book your holiday parties, birthdays, fundraisers, weddings, reunions, or whatever type of private event that suits your cause.”

Guests can book The Vault room, the former pub side, or both, which can fit up to 500 people.

The announcement came days after JKB Entertainment Group/Limelight Magazine announced it would be presenting a “Welcome Back to The Vault” weekend featuring actor/musician Corey Feldman and his band on Friday, Dec. 2, and The Great Escape: A Tribute to Journey on Saturday, Dec. 3.

Katie Botelho, co-owner of JKB Entertainment Group, said she's excited to be back in the venue since its closure.

He will be performing off his recent album “Love Left 2: Arm Me With Love,” which features the viral song “Comeback King,” featuring Curtis Young, as well as his new box set, “Love Left 2.1.”

Founded in 2008, The Great Escape: A Tribute to Journey will perform on Dec. 3. The band features lead vocalist Jason Paulino, with lead guitarist Rick Vigdor and keyboard player Chris Brunelle.

In 2009, and again in 2013, the band was awarded New England’s Best Tribute Band during the Limelight Magazine Awards Show.

The future of The Vault

According to Mallowes, the entertainment group has a proven track record booking nearly 20 shows with The Vault over the past four years. He is happy to welcome them into the space with the re-opening of the venue.

As of June 12, The Vault/Greasy Luck has sat dormant since Mallowes made the announcement they would be closing down immediately, refusing tickets and helping promoters find other venues to perform.

As for the restaurant, Mallowes also said they will no longer be open seven days a week, but will only open to be utilized to support private events, if needed.

“We won’t be booking our own live music events anymore, but keep an eye out as there might be some things in the works with shows being held by some local promoters,” he said.

“We want to thank everybody who has supported us as a live music venue featuring some of the best entertainment that has ever been brought to this city.  It’s been a fun ride.”
