Memorial Dog Tag Flag

Fallen Heroes Memorial Dog Tag Flag will be on display at Patriot Park Global War on Terrorism Memorial, 6150 Lincoln Highway, Stoystown, just west of the Flight 93 entrance, until July 30. Veterans & Athletes United's Fallen Heroes Memorial, made of 7,056 dog tags that create an image of the American flag, also has 50 gold stars on the flag to honor Gold Star families nationwide. The flag is built and funded by veterans. It has traveled to more than 50 locations nationwide since 2018. Maple City Farmers' Market

Levitt AMP Cumberland Music Series

The Allegany Arts Council lineup for the 2023 Levitt AMP Cumberland Music Series on the Festival Grounds at Canal Place, Cumberland, Maryland, at 6:30 p.m. each Thursday, through Aug. 3. Performances will be family-friendly and attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, picnic blankets, and food and beverages to enjoy the show. Concerts are free. Wings-n-Waves

Wings-n-Waves at the Windber Recreation Park, sponsored by the Windber Municipal Authority. Three local restaurants and bars compete head to head each week 6-10 p.m. Thursdays to crown the 2023 Wings-n-Waves Champions. A night swim in the lighted pool. Fundraiser Sale

The Springs Museum will sponsor a Fundraiser Sale Event 12-5 p.m. July 13; 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. July 14 and July 15 at the Folk Meeting House on 1711 Springs Road, Springs. Donated items include magazines, dishes, toys, costume jewelry. Spaghetti dinner

Evening on the Summit

Evening on the Summit: Dead Irish Blues Dead Irish Blues will perform at Allegheny Portage Railroad National Historic Site at 8 p.m. July 15, in the amphitheater. This concert is free, and no reservations are required. In the event of rain, the concert will take place in the Visitor Center theater. The band, based out of Johnstown, performs a wide range of styles, from Celtic to blues to zydeco and swing, but frequently does exclusively Celtic shows. Most of the songs, except for the originals, were written by people long since deceased. The name of the band is inspired by the combination of styles and homage to deceased musicians. Allegheny Portage Railroad National Historic Site (U.S. National Park Service) (nps.gov) Allegheny Portage Railroad National Historic Site is located 10 miles west of Altoona, Pennsylvania off the Gallitzin exit of US Highway 22.

2023 SummerQuest

The Mary S. Biesecker Public Library 2023 SummerQuest summer learning program. Annual outdoor story times 10 a.m., at the Union Street Playground. 'A Midsummer Night's Ball'

As part of the July Living History Weekend, Compass Inn Museum's “A Midsummer Night’s Ball” is from 6:30-10 p.m. July 15. Guests will be greeted by the sounds of 19th-century music before being ushered under the grand tent and onto the dance floor. Should guests find themselves thirsty or hungry, they can find their way to the cocktails and hors d’oeuvres for a refreshment. “A Midsummer Night’s Ball” will feature local dancing master, Brett Walker, with accompanying period music by The Wayward Companions. The Wayward Companions is a historical music ensemble with members from diverse backgrounds. How to Find & Use Health Information program

Somerset County residents are invited to sharpen skills with this free adult education class, 10:30 a.m. to noon, July 17, at the Meyersdale Public Library, 210 Center St., Meyersdale. Participants will learn how to weed out misinformation and find health news that keeps one informed. Participants will receive a $25 Giant Eagle gift card and health kit for participating. CACCC exhibition

The Community Arts Center of Cambria County 2023 July exhibition, Shakti, the Power of the Feminine!, an exhibition featuring a mixture of paintings by artist Nalini Bhat. Shakti, the Power of the Feminine! will be hosted in the Goldhaber-Fend Fine Arts Center gallery and showcase a wide variety of Nalini’s artistic works. Exhibit will be on display through July 28. Summer development series

The Learning Lamp and Pennsylvania Association for the Education of Young Children, PennAEYC, launched a free summer professional development series. The monthly workshops take place through August via Zoom. The sessions meet from 6:30-8:30 p.m. School-age professionals including child care staff, teachers, program directors and summer camp staff are encouraged to attend. Ligonier Night Market

The monthly Ligonier Night Market is around The Diamond and along Main Street in historic downtown Ligonier. Food products from more than 30 local farmers and food processors. Night Market added last year to sell their hand-made goods and products ― ranging from unique woodcrafts to original artwork and more. The Ligonier Country Market (LCM) and the Ligonier Valley Chamber of Commerce co-sponsor the Night Market, which will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month through September (July 20, Aug. 17, and Sept. 21). Basket party

The 11th annual Basket Party to benefit the Hooversville Volunteer Fire Department, is July 22 and 23, at the Hooversville Firemen's Grove. Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. More than 100 baskets, 50/50, large baskets and rip off tickets.

Mt. Davis Challenge Bicycle Race

The 10th annual Mt. Davis Challenge Bicycle Race, hosted by the Confluence Tourism Association, is July 23. The 40/56 mile race starts in Confluence and climbs over Mt. Davis. Race starts at 11 a.m. Course is lollipop style using Route 523, Fort Hill Road, Pumpkin Center Road over Mt. Davis, loops back around on St. Paul Road, Oak Dale Road, Route 669 and Savage Road. All riders required to have USA Cycling license. A one day license will be available race day for the non-licensed. Race registration www.bikereg.com/mt-davis-challenge. Registration that day at the community center next to town park in Confluence, starts at 8:30 a.m. Proceeds are donated to organizations that help with the race and used to fund Confluence Tourism Association projects and events.

Monday Movies on the Amphitheatre

The Community Arts Center of Cambria County (CACCC) will begin its first summer of Monday Movies on the Amphitheatre (MMA.Through First Commonwealth Bank’s support, these movies will be offered free of charge. Annual "Harvest Market Dinner and Dance"

The Hanna’s Town Antiques & Collectors Market is held the second Sunday of each month through October. The gate opens at 7:30 a.m. Sunday, and the market continues through early afternoon, although some vendors are set up by 1 p.m. Saturday and sell that afternoon. There is parking on site. Future dates for 2023 are Aug. 13, Sept. 10, and Oct. 8. Back to School Bash

Christmas in the Park Back to School Bash for the community starts at 1 p.m. Aug. 20, at Central City Park, 699 Chestnut St., Central City. There will be a parade featuring classic cars and groups are participating by decorating their cars. There will be crafters, food, bubble tea and the Good Times Ice Cream Truck, and a live band 3rd Avenue. The event will feature a basket raffle and an 18 foot waterslide and 40 foott inflatable zipline as well as free haircuts for the children, back to school supplies and games as well. The classic cars will be on display as well as some some surprise guests.

Seven Springs Wine Fest

The 30th anniversary of the Seven Springs Wine Fest will be Aug. 25-27, at 777 Water Wheel Drive, Seven Springs,(814) 352-7777, https://www.7springs.com/. The event kicks off Friday night with a 90s theme to celebrate the festival’s inception in 1993. Up to 25 Pennsylvania wineries are expected to attend.
