They really want to bug you at Modesto Junior College. The Modesto Area Partners in Science joins with Great Valley Museum for a program and bug exhibit. The first Family Fun Festival also comes to the Gallo Center, along with other entertainment options from Sept. 23-29.

Beetlelady

Modesto Area Partners in Science joins with the Great Valley Museum for a free family event on “The Extraordinary Diversity of Beetles.” The program will start with a MAPS talk on Sept. 29 intended for ages junior high and up by the Beetlelady, Stephanie Dole. On Sept. 30, the Great Valley Museum will feature a pop-up bug exhibit in its Science Center lobby, along with activities for families. The Beetlelady will give short talks during the day, and a honey bee expert will give talks on honey bees. There also will be hands-on activities involving bugs.

Family Fun Festival

The city of Modesto and the Gallo Center for the Arts present the first Family Fun Festival. The community event features a host of free activities including music, dancing, chalk art, lawn games, exotic reptiles, face painting, balloon animals and more outside the Gallo Center.

Aga-Boom

Aga-Boom — Theatre of Physical Comedy & Circus Arts will present its family show inside the Gallo Center following the Family Fun Festival. Aga-Boom promises “interactive, zany mayhem that carries audiences to the other side of the funhouse mirror, with outrageous antics and unrestrained laughter,” according to the Gallo Center website.

Ballet and graffiti

Blues and Bones fest

The annual Blues and Bones Festival returns to Angels Camp with plenty of music and a barbecue. The event features live music by the Blood Brothers Band, the Laurie Morvan Band, The Blues Cartel Featuring Jeramy Norris and the Evan Thomas Band.
