Vehicle fire on I-5 in Lakewood causes some traffic delays

A vehicle caught fire on northbound interstate 5 on Thursday morning near Lakewood, causing some traffic delays while emergency crews responded.

No one was injured in the fire, Washington State Patrol Trooper Robert Reyer said. All lanes of traffic were back open just before 7 a.m.

The fire was near Gravelly Lake Drive Southwest. It blocked two northbound lanes and the ramp from Gravelly Lake Drive. Photos showed the vehicle pulled to the side of the road.

Reyer said on Twitter that crews from West Pierce Fire & Rescue, the Washington State Department of Transportation and WSP were on the scene at about 6:35 a.m.

Fire crews extinguished the flames, which appeared to be contained to the hood of the car.
