Vehicle overturns, flips and ejects teenage passenger on I-77

A vehicle traveling south on I-77 flipped and ejected a teenage passenger who wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, N.C. Highway Patrol says.

Officers say the vehicle ran off the road on the right side and hit an embankment. The car then overturned and landed upside-down, according to Highway Patrol.

A teenager in the car was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected.

The teen has been transported to Atrium CMC Main with non-life-threatening injuries.

The incident happened near mile marker 36 on I-77 in Mooresville.

Traffic has been controlled, and two of three lanes appear to be open.
