Ventura Botanical Gardens seeks colorblind volunteers to test glasses

The Ventura Botanical Gardens is looking for adults and children to try glasses designed for people with color blindness at an event later this month.

The gardens off Poli Street behind City Hall are home to thousands of plants and offer panoramic views of the Ventura coastline and the Channel Islands. After a particularly wet winter, many of the flowers continue to bloom.

Two or three volunteers are expected to be chosen by EnChroma, the company that develops the lenses, to participate in the May 30 event. The glasses are designed to expand the range of colors people see and volunteers will receive a free pair for participating, according to organizers.

To be eligible, volunteers must fill out a form available at surveymonkey.com/r/KJXYCNX.
