At a venue in the sun: Weezer to perform Palladium Outdoors July with Joyce Manor, Future Islands

WORCESTER — They may look like Buddy Holly, but it will be the famous Los Angeles alternative rock band Weezer who will perform at the Palladium Outdoors July 1.

Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. Wednesday.

The band will head to Worcester as part of their Indie Rock Roadtrip Tour. The Worcester concert will also include special guests Joyce Manor, a Torrance, California, punk rock band, and Baltimore synth pop band Future Islands.

Weezer rose to fame in the 1990s on the back of their acclaimed self-titled 1994 album, known by fans as the "Blue Album," as well as their fan-favorite 1996 album "Pinkerton," an influential album in the emo genre.

Their first self-titled album yielded alternative rock staples such as "Buddy Holly," "Say it Ain't So" and "Undone (The Sweater Song.)" The band has continued to release albums for the past two decades and produced hits songs such as "Island in the Sun" and "Beverly Hills."

Last year, Weezer released four EPs in a project known as "SZNZ" where each EP corresponded with a season of the year.

Joyce Manor released their debut self-titled album in 2011 released their most recent album "40 oz. to Fresno" last year.

Future Islands released their debut album "Wave Like Home" in 2008 and drew major attention in 2014, when a memorable performance of their song "Seasons (Waiting on You)" on "The Late Show with David Letterman" was widely shared on YouTube.
