On the verge of retirement, Robert Earl Keen to headline 11th Outlaws & Legends

The lineup for the 2022 version of the Outlaws & Legends Music Festival is complete.

On Friday, organizers announced the final act.

Robert Earl Keen returns to the festival as the Saturday night headliner. The event is scheduled for March 25-26 at the Back Porch of Texas.

This is a major score for the festival. Rolling Stone magazine announced Jan. 14 that Keen is retiring from touring and public performances in September. This may be fans' last chance to the see the popular Texas performer.

He played the 2014 Outlaws event.

His songs include "Corpus Christi Bay," "The Road Goes on Forever," "Feelin' Good Again" and "The Front Porch Song."

The Friday night co-headliners are Sammy Kershaw and Aaron Tippin.

Also in the two-day lineup are host Mark Powell, Jack Ingram, Kentucky Headhunters and, from Cross Plains and making her festival debut, Ariel Hutchins.

In February, there will be a songwriter competition. The winner gains an opening spot in this year's festival.

This the 11th anniversary show, which benefits Ben Richey Boys Ranch. Since 2013, proceeds have totaled more than $17 million and more than $3 million for local nonprofits since 2011.
