Vermillion plates run in eighth to win B Legion baseball state title in extra innings
Vermillion scored on a bases-loaded walk in the top of the eighth inning to defeat Winner-Colome and claim the Class B American Legion state baseball title Tuesday.
The tournament was in Gregory. It was Vermillion's first title since 2017.
Vermillion eliminated Redfield Monday, picking up a 13-2 triumph thanks to seven combined runs in the sixth and seventh innings after building a 6-1 lead.
Redfield started the tournament with two wins before falling to Winner-Colome and the eventual champions.
Milbank went 0-2 at the tourney.
