Vernon hires new principal for Center Road School

Jul. 28—VERNON — The Board of Education approved a new principal for the Center Road School at 20 Center Road during a special meeting on Monday night.

Heather Earley of South Windsor will be the new principal of the elementary school, which serves students in Pre-K through Grade 5.

Earley is the elementary director of curriculum, instruction, and assessment for Windsor Locks schools and served as an assistant principal tthere for four years, Superintendent Joseph Macary said.

Before that, Earley was a classroom teacher, math coach, and instructional coach in East Hartford for 12 years, Macary said.

Earley received both her master's degree in remedial reading and language arts and sixth year degree in educational leadership from Central Connecticut State University, as well as a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Eastern Connecticut State University.

Earley, who will start Aug. 29, will receive an annual salary of $143,936, according to the superintendent's office.

"The board is thrilled that we have hired her," said Board of Education Chairwoman Anne Fischer on Wednesday.

"I think she's going to be a great addition," Fischer added.

"Please join me in welcoming Heather to the Vernon Public School Administrative Team," Macary said in an email to district families, adding, "thank you for your support during this transitional period."

The last principal, Jennifer Miller, left the school to become an assistant superintendent in another school district, Fischer said. Holly Wrenn is serving as interim principal.
