Vernon’s July in the Sky set for July 11

Vernon’s annual July in the Sky celebration is set for July 11, both at Henry Park and in Downtown Rockville.

In Downtown Rockville, activities begin at 6 p.m., and admission is free.

Live music will be provided by Better Than Chips. Activities for kids will include bounce houses, a rocket launch, a Disney princess house, an obstacle course, a giant slide, a rock wall, cornhole games, a Frisbee toss, and the always-popular foam machine.

Food vendors will include Nana’s Ice Cream, Keifer’s Kettle Corn and Italian Ice, the Rockville High School Booster Club Food Truck, the Kona Ice Truck, No Coast Kitchen, and the Rockville Exchange Club fried dough trailer.

The Push, Pedal and Pull Patriotic Parade begins at 7 p.m. in the Courthouse Plaza/Ladd & Hall parking lot. Kids of all ages are invited to decorate wagons, strollers, bicycles, tricycles, and skateboards with patriotic designs. Trophies will be awarded. Participants should be assembled by 6:45 p.m.

At Henry Park, activities also start at 6 p.m. There is a $10 admission per car, $2 per walker, and Fun Zone wrist bands are $15. Only cash is accepted.

Live music will be provided by Shaded Soul Band, one of the state’s premier party bands.

Fun Zone attractions include a Dual Slide, Moon Bounce, 4 in 1 Combo Sports Combo, Shoot and Score Connect 4, Soccer Darts, Roller Skee Ball, rock wall, racetrack, Krazy Konez photo tent, and a face painter (for additional fee).

Food vendors at Henry Park include Jeff’s Kettle Corn, Cousins Maine Lobster, Rolling Smokehouse, New England Soft Serve, Kona Ice, Square Peg Pizza, Nutmeg Concessions, and Vinci Concessions.

Fireworks begin after 9:15 p.m. when the sky is dark enough, and are visible from both Henry Park and Downtown Rockville, as well as other locations in the area.
