Vernon's'Julyin the Sky' fireworks set for Tuesday

Jul. 11—The event will feature live music, a variety of food vendors, and attractions such as bounce houses, climbing walls, and giant slides.

A patriotic parade will kick off in downtown Rockville at 6:45 p.m. and the night will end with a fireworks show that is set off from Fox Hill Tower, the highest point in Vernon.

The fireworks display, which is scheduled to begin after 9:15 p.m., will be visible throughout the region, but organizers say the best view will be in downtown Rockville and Henry Park.

"July in the Sky is something everyone in Vernon looks forward to," Mayor Daniel Champagne said. "It's a great opportunity for our community to come together, have a great time, and enjoy a spectacular fireworks show."

Admission to Henry Park is $10 per car and $2 per walker, and a wristband for activities and amusements is $15. Only cash is accepted for admission to the park and for wristbands.

Bracelets for access to activities and amusements in downtown Rockville are $10, and only cash is accepted.

There is no charge to watch the fireworks.

The celebration will also offer a variety of food, including kettle corn, ice cream, fried dough, lobster rolls, pizza, hot dogs, and hamburgers.

If it rains on Tuesday, activities and fireworks will be postponed to Wednesday.
