Versace Sent Leopard-Print Hair Down the Runway in Milan

We should've known this would be the logical next step after seeing a model wearing a Coach-logo buzz cut on the Matty Bovan runway during London Fashion Week last September. After all, if you squint, the black-and-brown C pattern on Finn Buchanan's barely-there platinum hair looks a bit like a blurry animal print. But now, thanks to the legendary Guido's talented team of stylists and colorist, leopard-print hair made its high-fashion debut on the Versace runway.

Model João Knorr walked down the menswear catwalk in Milan wearing one of Versace's bolder looks, including pieces with clashing patterns like black-and-white striped pants, a Ford logo-print shirt, and a leopard-print coat. But instead of leaving his short, blonde hair as is, Guido had colorist Davide of Italy's Blance salon carry the coat's pattern all the way up onto Knorr's head.

A video posted to Blanche's Instagram Stories shows Knorr getting his done not backstage with the other models but at the Milan salon instead. In it, we see Davide using a brush to hand-paint the brown areas of the leopard pattern, which was already clearly coming together with the abstract black areas of the spots. "I used nonpermanent colors to do it," Davide tells Allure. "It was done freehand on João's head after platinum bleach."

The final look is very similar to the one showcased on Bleach London's Instagram in April 2017 — one of several leopard-print hairstyles seen on Instagram a couple years ago. And it just goes to show, while some trends trickle down from the runway to real life, sometimes the opposite is true.

One thing from the Versace runway that will definitely find its way into everyday life: the makeup. Pat McGrath's new FetishEye Mascara and new shades of Lust Gloss were seen on models like Emily Ratajkowski and Kaia Gerber, giving admirers of the show a more subtle and easily attainable way to recreate the Versace runway beauty look than putting animal print on your head.
