Try to name all the quarterbacks in the NFL that started all 17 games in 2022.

I'll give you a minute. This article isn't going anywhere.

(Jeopardy! theme playing in your head)

OK, got your list.

If you said 10 quarterbacks started all 17 games, to quote the Fonz, "Exactamundo!"

Some QBs you'd expect to play all 17.

Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, Justin Herbert and Joe Burrow come to mind.

Tom Brady started all 17, and while you should expect it, it's also hard to expect from a 45-year-old football player. Also, 39-year-old Aaron Rodgers started all 17.

There were some pleasant surprises, perhaps none more than Geno Smith.

Jared Goff, Trevor Lawrence and Kirk Cousins round out the list of the league's most durable quarterbacks in 2022.

Six more quarterbacks started Weeks 1 and 18, but missed games in between. They include Dak Prescott, Russell Wilson, Davis Mills, Mac Jones, Jalen Hurts, and possibly the most unforeseen — Joe Flacco.

Only one quarterback — Baker Mayfield — started Week 1 with one team (Panthers) and started Week 18 for a different team (Rams).

Here's a breakdown of the quarterback situation for all 32 teams in 2022, who started the first and last game, and what happened in between.

Arizona Cardinals

Week 1 starter: Kyler Murray

Week 18 starter: David Blough

The story: Prior to the 2022 season, Kyler Murray signed a five-year, $230.5 million contract. He was lost for season after tearing his ACL during Week 14 on Monday Night Football against the New England Patriots. He was hurt on the first drive of the game. He had previously missed two other games with a hamstring injury earlier during the season — Weeks 10 and 11 (Nov. 13 and Nov. 21). Colt McCoy started in his absence but was knocked out with a concussion against the Broncos in Week 15, leaving the job to Trace McSorley. McSorley made his first start in a Week 16 overtime loss on Christmas Day against Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The following week, David Blough got the starting nod for the Cardinals in a loss to the Falcons. Blough started the final game of the season for the Cardinals, but was injured. McSorley returned to finish out the game and the season.

Atlanta Falcons

Week 1 starter: Marcus Mariota

Week 18 starter: Desmond Ridder

The story: Mariota started the first 13 games but was benched in favor of rookie Desmond Ridder. After it was announced Mariota would not play, he underwent surgery for a chronic knee injury. Ridder started the final four games of the season.

Baltimore Ravens

Week 1 starter: Lamar Jackson

Week 18 starter: Anthony Brown

The story: Prior to the season, Lamar Jackson turned down a long-term deal offered by the Ravens reportedly worth $250 million. He does not retain an agent, instead choosing to retain the services of his mother, Felicia Jones, as his manager. He injured his knee early in a Week 13 game against the Denver Broncos and didn't play again in the regular season. Tyler Huntley started four games in Jackson’s absence, but was out for the final game with tendinitis in his right shoulder. Undrafted rookie Anthony Brown started the final game for the Ravens.

Buffalo Bills

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen (17) throws in the first quarter of a Week 17 NFL game against the Cincinnati Bengals, Monday, Jan. 2, 2023, at Paycor Stadium in Cincinnati.
Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen (17) throws in the first quarter of a Week 17 NFL game against the Cincinnati Bengals, Monday, Jan. 2, 2023, at Paycor Stadium in Cincinnati.

Week 1 starter: Josh Allen

Week 18 starter: Josh Allen

The story: Allen fought through injuries and started all 17 games, although only 16 counted. Allen started the ill-fated Bills at Bengals game that saw Damar Hamlin collapse on the field and was ultimately canceled. Still, Allen threw for more than 4,000 yards as he led the Bills to the AFC East title for the third year in a row.

Carolina Panthers

Week 1 starter: Baker Mayfield

Week 18 starter: Sam Darnold

The story: Baker Mayfield won the starting job out of training camp over Sam Darnold and PJ Walker. He started the first five games but was benched for Game 6 in favor of Walker. Walker was benched for Mayfield after a poor start in Week 9 against the Cincinnati Bengals. Walker started the following week, then in Week 11 Mayfield saw his final action with the Panthers when he started but struggled against the Baltimore Ravens. In Week 12, Sam Darnold got his first start for the Panthers. He started their final six games, going 4-2.

Chicago Bears

Week 1 starter: Justin Fields

Week 18 starter: Nathan Peterman

The story: Fields started the first 11 games of the season, but missed game No. 12 with a shoulder injury. Trevor Siemian started in his place. The break was short-lived as Fields returned the following game to start against the Packers. He started each game thereafter but sat the final week of the season with the Bears potentially playing for the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 Draft. Nathan Peterman started the final game but was benched for Tim Boyle, who saw his first action of the 2022 season. Fields started 15 games total. The Bears lost and the Texans won in Week 18, meaning the Bears will get the No. 1 overall pick in 2023.

Week 1 starter: Joe Burrow

Week 18 starter: Joe Burrow

The story: A year after leading the Bengals to the Super Bowl, Burrow's encore included starting all 17 games, and setting career-highs in completions (414), attempts (606) and touchdowns (35). Like Josh Allen, Burrow started all 17 games, but only 16 counted because of the canceled Monday Night game where Damar Hamlin collapsed.

Cleveland Browns

Week 1 starter: Jacoby Brissett

Week 18 starter: Deshaun Watson

The story: Jacoby Brissett started first 11 games of the season but was benched when Deshaun Watson returned from his suspension. Watson finished out the year as starter.

Dallas Cowboys

Week 1 starter: Dak Prescott

Week 18 starter: Dak Prescott

The story: Dak Prescott injured his hand against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during a Week 1 loss. Prescott needed surgery to fix a fracture near the thumb of his throwing hand. Cooper Rush came in to save the season, winning five consecutive games before Prescott’s return on Oct. 23. Prescott started each game thereafter but Rush saw cleanup action in Weeks 12, 13 and 18. Prescott finished with 12 starts.

Denver Broncos

Week 1 starter: Russell Wilson

Week 18 starter: Russell Wilson

The story: Russell Wilson missed his first start of the season with a hamstring injury Week 7 against the New York Jets on Oct. 23. Brett Rypien started in his place. Wilson returned the following week against the Jaguars in London. Wilson was then injured after he suffered a concussion Week 14 against Kansas City on Dec. 11. Rypien started the following week, but Wilson was back under center on Christmas Day. He started 15 of 17 games during his first season in Denver. The team won just five games but they ended the season on a positive note — with a win against the playoff-bound Chargers.

Week 1 starter: Jared Goff

Week 18 starter: Jared Goff

The story: Give it up for Jared Goff! After a lackluster first year in Detroit, Goff came back in 2022 to start all 17 games, finish sixth in the league in passing yards (4,438), tied for fifth in the league in passing touchdowns (29) and eighth in the league in competitions (382). After a 2-6 start, the Lions made a run for the playoffs but were eliminated on the last day despite upsetting the Green Bay Packers. Still, a 9-8 season the the Lions' first winning season since 2017 can be heavily attributed to the play of Goff.

Green Bay Packers

Week 1 starter: Aaron Rodgers

Week 18 starter: Aaron Rodgers

The story: Rodgers battled injuries throughout the season but he continued to start every game. Jordan Love saw cleanup duty in four games but Rodgers stuck it out in one of his most frustrating seasons of his career. After a loss in Week 18 that eliminated the Packers from the playoffs, one would have to wonder if a retirement announcement is forthcoming?

Houston Texans

Week 1 starter: Davis Mills

Week 18 starter: Davis Mills

The story: Davis Mills started the first 10 games of the season but was benched in favor for Kyle Allen after a particularly bad outing against the Washington Commanders. Allen replaced Mills as starter but was benched after two starts for poor play. Mills returned as the starter in Week 14. During Weeks 17 and 18, Mills started, but he shared snaps with Jeff Driskel. Mills finished with 15 starts.

Indianapolis Colts

Week 1 starter: Matt Ryan

Week 18 starter: Sam Ehlinger

The story: Matt Ryan started the first seven games of the season but was benched as the Sam Ehlinger experiment began. It didn’t last long. Ehlinger started two games — both losses — and head coach Frank Reich was fired. Interim coach Jeff Saturday went back to Ryan, but he was benched a second time after the Colts’ historic collapse in Week 15. Nick Foles was named starter for Week 16, and he promptly threw three interceptions in a 20-3 loss to the Chargers. Foles started Week 17 against the New York Giants, but was benched in favor of Ehlinger during the game. Ehlinger started the final game of the season. It makes you wonder what the future is for Ryan, who started 12 games during the season.

Jacksonville Jaguars

Week 1 starter: Trevor Lawrence

Week 18 starter: Trevor Lawrence

The story: You could see Lawrence finally start to be the QB everyone thought he'd be the second half of the season. The 2021 No. 1 overall pick also has done something no QB has done in NFL history: he's started all 34 regular season games in his first two seasons. Granted, last year was the first year with 17 games, but still, he's the only one. Lawrence led the Jaguars to their first playoff appearance in five years, throwing for more than 4,000 yards on the season.

Kansas City

Patrick Mahomes was selected to his fifth Pro Bowl.
Patrick Mahomes was selected to his fifth Pro Bowl.

Week 1 starter: Patrick Mahomes

Week 18 starter: Patrick Mahomes

The story: Like a good neighbor, Patrick Mahomes was there. Always. Every game. Backup Chad Henne barely even got garbage time. Mahomes finished the season leading the league in touchdowns with 41 (second place wasn't even close). He was the only QB to go over 5,000 yards, ending with 5,250. Mahomes has reached a Michael Jordan territory where he can be the league MVP every year. He may not win it, but he's always deserving.

Las Vegas Raiders

Week 1 starter: Derek Carr

Week 18 starter: Jarrett Stidham

The story: Derek Carr started the first 15 games for the Raiders but was benched for the final two games in favor of Jarrett Stidham. Carr, the team’s starter since 2014, was benched to keep him healthy so the team can have options of offloading him after the season. He signed a three-year, $121.5 million contract extension in the spring, but he could be cut for a $5.625 million salary-cap hit if the move is made within three days of the Super Bowl. His $32.9 million salary for next year and $7.5 million of his 2024 salary would be fully guaranteed should he be injured. Stidham, if you're wondering, lost both of his starts.

Lon Angeles Chargers

Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert had a subpar game against the Indianapolis Colts, but he played well enough to win and clinch a playoff berth.
Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert had a subpar game against the Indianapolis Colts, but he played well enough to win and clinch a playoff berth.

Week 1 starter: Justin Herbert

Week 18 starter: Justin Herbert

The story: Herbert injured his ribs during the Chargers' second game of the season on a Thursday night. He played 10 days later against the Jaguars, struggling mightily in a 38-10 loss. As Herbert got healthier, the Chargers got better. The playoff-bound team won four of their last five games to end the season and will face the Jaguars in Jacksonville in the first round of the playoffs. Herbert started all 17 games and was second in the league in passing yards (4,739) and second in the league in pass completions (477).

Los Angeles Rams

Week 1 starter: Matthew Stafford

Week 18 starter: Baker Mayfield

The story: Stafford was knocked out for season with a spinal cord contusion against the New Orleans Saints on Nov. 20. He started the first eight games of the season but suffered a concussion against the Buccaneers. John Wolford started Game 9 and Stafford was back for the 10th game before the spine injury. Bryce Perkins started the 11th game with Wolford out with a neck injury, and he struggled in a loss to the Chiefs. Wolford was back to start Game 12 vs the Seahawks but suffered an ankle injury. He tried to go by starting against the Raiders the following week but was quickly out of the game. The recently-acquired Baker Mayfield, who was released from the Carolina Panthers and picked up by the Rams earlier that week, came in and defeated the Raiders. He went on to start the final four games of the season. Mayfield played in 12 games, starting 10 of them between the Panthers and Rams.

Miami Dolphins

Week 1 starter: Tua Tagovailoa

Week 18 starter: Skylar Thompson

The story: Tua started the first four games of the season but was knocked out of a Thursday night game against Cincinnati with a concussion. The Dolphins lost the next game against the Jets when Teddy Bridgewater started in Tua’s place. Bridgewater was concussed on the game’s second play. It forced rookie Skylar Thompson into action. Thompson started the next game but injured his thumb in the second quarter, forcing Bridgewater in the game just days after passing concussion protocol. Tua returned the following week against the Pittsburgh Steelers and started nine consecutive games before suffering another concussion against the Green Bay Packers. Bridgewater returned to start the 16th game against the New England Patriots. However, he injured his hand in the third quarter and Thompson was called back into service. Thompson started the final week of the season.

Minnesota Vikings

Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins (8) scrambles for 20 yards during the first quarter of their game Sunday, January 1, 2023 at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wis. The Green Bay Packers beat the Minnesota Vikings 41-17.

Week 1 starter: Kirk Cousins

Week 18 starter: Kirk Cousins

The story: Cousins had his best year record-wise as a starter as the Vikings finished 13-4. He had his second-best campaign when it comes to passing yards in a season and he set a career-high for completions in a season.

New England Patriots

Week 1 starter: Mac Jones

Week 18 starter: Mac Jones

The story: Mac Jones started the first three games of the season but suffered a leg injury that knocked him out for the next three games. Brian Hoyer started game No. 4, but was pulled during the game for Bailey Zappe. Zappe did well enough to start the following two games. However, Jones returned to start on Oct. 24 but struggled, getting pulled early for Zappe. The following week, Jones was given a vote of confidence by Bill Belichick as he was given his starting job back. He finished out the season, starting 14 games.

New Orleans Saints

Week 1 starter: Jameis Winston

Week 18 starter: Andy Dalton

The story: Jameis Winston played Weeks 1-3. During Week 2, on Sept. 18, it was reported that Winston suffered four fractures in his back. He played the following week but was shut down prior to Week 4. Andy Dalton took over starting duties for the final 14 games.

New York Giants

Week 1 starter: Daniel Jones

Week 18 starter: Davis Webb

The story: The Giants could have at least let Jones start the final game of the season then be pulled so he could say he started all 17 games. Instead, the playoff-bound Giants sat Jones in a game that had no bearing on their postseason. Davis Webb got the start and the Giants lost to the Eagles.

New York Jets

Week 1 starter: Joe Flacco

Week 18 starter: Joe Flacco

The story: Joe Flacco started the first three games of the season while Zach Wilson was rehabbing an injury. Wilson returned for Week 4, but was benched after a Week 11 loss to Buffalo. Mike White took over, but was injured late in Week 14 against the Bills. Flacco came in to play, not Wilson. Wilson was back as the starter in Week 15 against the Lions and again in Week 16 against the Jaguars. However, after struggling mightily against the Jaguars, he was pulled in favor of Chris Streveler. For Week 17, White was back as the starter. Flacco started the final game of the season, ending with four starts.

Philadelphia Eagles

Week 1 starter: Jalen Hurts

Week 18 starter: Jalen Hurts

The story: Hurts was a solid MVP candidate but sprained his shoulder during Week 15 against the Chicago Bears. Gardner Minshew was called into service to start Week 16 against Dallas and Week 17 against New Orleans. Hurts returned in Week 18 to fight through his injury to make sure the Eagles got the win and a first-round playoff bye. They did. Hurts started 15 games and remains a solid MVP candidate.

Pittsburgh Steelers

Week 1 starter: Mitch Trubisky

Week 18 starter: Kenny Pickett

The story: Mitch Trubisky started the first four games of the season but was benched midway through Game 4 in favor of rookie Kenny Pickett. Pickett started the fifth and sixth games, but he suffered a concussion Week 6 against the Buccaneers, pressing Trubisky back into service. Pickett was back starting the following week. He started the next seven games, but suffered another concussion against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 14. Trubisky was back starting in Week 15, leading the Steelers to a win over Carolina. For Week 16, Pickett returned to lead the Steelers to a win over the Raiders. Pickett helped defeat the Ravens in Week 17. He started the final game of the season against Cleveland, finishing with 12 starts. Trubisky had five starts.

San Francisco 49ers

Week 1 starter: Trey Lance

Week 18 starter: Brock Purdy

The story: Trey Lance suffered a season-ending ankle injury during Week 2 against the Seattle Seahawks, pressing Jimmy Garoppolo into service. Garoppolo started the next 10 games but suffered a season-ending foot injury against Miami in Week 13, ushering in Mr. Irrelevant, Brock Purdy. Purdy finished off a win against the Dolphins, then won his next five starts to finish out the season. As the 49ers head to the playoffs, Purdy is irrelevant no more.

Seattle Seahawks

Week 1 starter: Geno Smith

Week 18 starter: Geno Smith

The story: Comeback player of the year? Comeback player of the decade? Smith surprised the world to start all 17 games after playing in just 15 total games from between 2015-21, five of which were starts. That's seven full seasons! And he got the Seahawks into the playoffs. Smith had 4,282 yards, 30 touchdowns and led all regular starters with a 69.8 completion percentage. Give it up for Pete Carroll evaluating Smith and giving him a chance and believing in him.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady (12) drops back to pass against the Carolina Panthers in the fourth quarter at Raymond James Stadium.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady (12) drops back to pass against the Carolina Panthers in the fourth quarter at Raymond James Stadium.

Week 1 starter: Tom Brady

Week 18 starter: Tom Brady

The story: What else can you say about an ageless wonder? Brady is like the Energizer Bunny. He keeps going and going and going… He set a career-high for completions in a season this year (490), which ot only led the NFL, but set a new NFL record. One he already owned. He finished third in passing yards (4,694) to Patrick Mahomes and Justin Herbert. And he's headed to the playoffs again, where he will make his 48th playoff start, adding to a record he's owned for many years. If you're wondering, Jerry Rice is next at 29.

Tennessee Titans

Week 1 starter: Ryan Tannehill

Week 18 starter: Joshua Dobbs

The story: Tannehill started the first six games of the season but suffered a right ankle injury during the sixth game. Rookie Malik Willis started the next two games but didn’t exactly impress. Tannehill was back for Week 10 and he started the next six games but suffered an ankle injury Week 15 against the Chargers. He only missed one series during that game, but afterward coach Mike Vrabel announced he would be out Week 16, bringing Willis back for his third start. Willis didn’t impress, and Joshua Dobbs was brought in to start against the Cowboys in Week 17. Dobbs also started the final game of the season, with the Titans losing to the Jaguars in a game that determined the AFC South champions. The Titans ended the season with seven consecutive losses.

Washington Commanders

Week 1 starter: Carson Wentz

Week 18 starter: Sam Howell

The story: Carson Wentz started the first six games of the season. He fractured his ring finger on his throwing hand during a Thursday Night Football win over the Chicago Bears in Week 6. He was placed on injured reserve on Oct. 22 and re-activated on Dec. 12, 2022, although he did not regain his starting duties from Taylor Heineke. Heineke ended up starting nine games, but was benched during his ninth start, against San Francisco, in favor of Wentz. Wentz started the following week against the Cleveland Browns in Week 17, throwing three INTs. He was benched for the final game in favor of rookie Sam Howell, who led the Commanders to an improbable win over the Cowboys.
