‘Very punchable face’: NBC’s ‘Quantum Leap’ star calls out series villain

(NBC) — NBC’s time travel adventure “Quantum Leap” has a two-hour season finale Tuesday, setting up what cast and crew hope will be a third season.

Not only does Ben find himself battling a blaze in the “Quantum Leap” season finale, but he also has to save Hannah, the woman he’s fallen in love with across time during multiple leaps throughout the season.

Ohio State Fair concert announcements begin with first two shows

“He felt safe enough in her understanding of physics to be able to explain that he’s a time traveler,” said series star Raymond Lee.

Their connection’s undeniable.

“She’s just such a kick-ass character. Like, I just feel really lucky to get to be her,” said Eliza Taylor, who plays Hannah.

But Hannah also has a kinship with Addison, Ben’s one-time fiancée.

“What a wonderful choice to not let it devolve into something icky,” said Caitlin Bassett, who plays Addison.

The finale’s other complication is billionaire Gideon Rydge. James Frain gets to play trouble personified.

“He has a very punchable face as a bad guy because he just does, he does,” said Bassett. “A little punchable.”

Rydge is on the warpath after his microchip was stolen to bring Ben home.

“There’s a possibility for a catastrophic outcome,” said Lee.

Which will set up a potential Season 3.

“The next chapter, if we’re so lucky to get an opportunity to tell that, would be almost an entire opening up of, of a different universe,” said Lee.

One that “Quantum Leap” fans hope to see.

Watch the “Quantum Leap” two-hour season finale Tuesday at 9 p.m. on NBC4.

And, regarding that “punchable” face remark in the story, Bassett was referencing the character, she says James Frain — the actor — is a delightful person.
