Veteran-owned sandwich restaurant in Denton could close its doors soon, owner says

Veteran-owned Patriot Sandwich Company in Denton may have to close its doors for the second time in two years.

Owner David Jordan made the announcement on the restaurant’s social media pages Tuesday and cited low traffic as the reason for the potential closure.

“I know this location has everything to do with our struggles. I’m still fighting as long as I can, but I know before long the property management company is going to lock us out,” Jordan said in the post shared to Facebook and Instagram.

Patriot Sandwich Company, located at 1507 S Loop 288 in Denton, closed its doors in November 2021 when it ran out of money. The Dallas Morning News previously reported Jordan had counted on approved $86,000 in Restaurant Revitalization Fund money that was approved but not paid.

The shop reopened in 2022 after a North Texas woman donated $45,000 to Jordan.

Since then, Jordan said he has added dinner sandwiches to the menu, got the business back on DoorDash and encouraged online ordering in an effort to help with slow foot traffic.

The restaurant is located on a corner near a gas station and tucked in between a strip of shops and a Canes, with minimal parking dedicated for the business.

Commenters responded to Jordan’s Facebook post, agreeing that the location is hard to access.

In his post, Jordan said investors have expressed interest in the business but are hesitant because they see it struggling.

“If we can find some way to come together and save this shop, it gives me a chance to show other investors that people actually believe in this shop and what it stands for,” Jordan said in the post.
