Veteran rockers Chicago return to Sangamon Auditorium on June 17

The veteran rock band Chicago is returning to the Sangamon Auditorium on the campus of the University of Illinois Springfield for a concert on June 17.

The year marks the band's 56th year of touring.

The band, known for hits like "(I've Been) Searchin' So Long," "Saturday in the Park," "25 or 6 to 4," "If You Leave Me Now," "Feelin' Stronger Every Day" and "Alive Again," last played in Springfield in 2019.

Self-described as "a rock and roll band with horns," the band's personnel has been fluid over the last decade or so. Three touring members -- Robert Lamm on keyboards, Lee Loughnane on trumpet and James Pankow on trombone -- date back to the band's founding in 1967.

Chicago released its 38th album, "Born for This Moment," last fall.

The 2022 documentary “The Last Band on Stage,” narrated by Joe Mantegna, chronicles the band's five-and-a-half-decade story.
