Veterans Day deals: Here’s where retired and active duty military can eat free

This Veterans Day, active and retired U.S. military members can receive free food and more at select retailers to honor their service.

The holiday, celebrated Nov. 11, recognizes all veterans and those who have served during times of war and peace.

While often confused with Memorial Day, Veterans Day is largely meant “to thank living veterans for their sacrifices.”

Here’s where current and retired military members can eat for free:

Applebee’s

To celebrate Veterans Day, Applebee’s will treat all active and retired US military members to a free entree from a pre-fixed menu.

Service members can also receive $5 toward their next meal. Valid from Nov. 12 through Dec. 2, the coupon can be used on future dine-in, delivery and to-go orders, the release said.

The one-day offer will be available on dine-in orders at more than 1,500 Applebee’s restaurants nationwide, according to a news release. Proof of military service is required.

Service members will have their pick of seven entrees, including:

  • 6 oz. top sirloin

  • Classic bacon cheeseburger

  • Chicken tenders platter

  • Double crunch shrimp

  • Fiesta lime chicken

  • Oriental chicken salad

  • Three-cheese chicken penne

Hours vary by location, so guests are encouraged to check with their local Applebee’s before heading to the restaurant.

California Pizza Kitchen

Service members can enjoy a free entree and drink when they dine at a California Pizza Kitchen on Veterans Day, the restaurant said in a news release.

Active and retired military members that buy a pizza, pasta or salad will also get a buy one, get one coupon to use on a future purchase from Nov. 12 to Nov. 21.

“CPK takes great pride in supporting our nation’s military service community,” Scott Hargrove, chief marketing officer for the chain, said in the release. “It’s truly an honor to be a part of this important day of recognition and remembrance.”

Dunkin

On Nov. 11, active and retired military personnel can get a free doughnut at participating Dunkin’ locations.

Doughnuts are limited to one per person, and ID is not required.

Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers

Freddy’s is saying “thank you” to our nation’s veterans with a coupon card for a free Freddy’s Original Double combo.

The cards can be redeemed through Nov. 30 and no purchase is necessary.

Goodyear

From Nov. 10 to Nov. 14, Good year is offering veterans, active military and first responders free car care checks at company owned locations across the U.S., according to a news release.

The service includes:

  • Tire tread and pressure check

  • Alignment check

  • Brakes and brake fluid check

  • Fluid check

Krispy Kreme

Current and former military members can receive a free Krispy Kreme doughnut of choice and a small coffee, hot or iced, the doughnut chain said.

No purchase or military ID is required.

Little Caesars

Little Caesars is honoring all veterans and active military members with a free Hot-N-Ready lunch combo on Nov. 11, according to a news release.

Valid from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the one-day offer comes with four slices of Little Caesars Detroit-style deep dish pizza and a 20-ounce drink. Proof of military service is required.

“All of us at Little Caesars are thankful to our veterans and military members for their service,” Little Caesars President and CEO David Scrivano said in a statement.

MOD Pizza

Active and retired military members who visit a MOD Pizza on Veterans Day can receive a buy one, get one free coupon for a pizza or salad.

The offer is valid in-store only, and a valid military ID is required.

O’Charley’s

O’Charley’s is honoring veterans and current service members with a free lunch entree Nov. 10 and Nov. 11. Military members can also opt for a free slice of pie at dinner time.

The offer is valid on dine-in orders only from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., per a news release.

The special lunch menu includes:

  • Chicken tenders and fries

  • Classic cheeseburger

  • Honey-drizzled southern fried chicken

  • Southern fried chicken tender salad

  • Bayou shrimp pasta

It’s not clear if proof of military service is required.

Pilot

Military service members can receive a free meal credit at participating Pilot, Flying J and One9 Fuel Network travel centers across the U.S.

The one-time offer is worth $12 and can be claimed Nov. 10-12 on the myRewards Plus app, according to a news release. Military members must be verified via ID.me to get the offer.

The credit can be redeemed on a variety of food and drink options at participating stores through Veterans Day weekend.

Red Robin

Military members who visit a Red Robin on Saturday, Nov. 11, will receive a free Red’s Big Tavern Burger with a side of bottomless steak fries, according to a news release.

The offer is valid on dine-in orders at participating locations nationwide.

Scooter’s Coffee

Scooter’s Coffee will treat veterans and military members to a free handcrafted drink of any size at participating locations, while supplies last.

Free drinks are limited to one per person, and a military ID is required.

Sheetz

Veterans and active military members can get a free meal and car wash when they visit a Sheetz store on Saturday, Nov. 11, according to a news release.

The meal includes a half turkey sub and a beverage. Add-ons are included, as well.

The free car wash is valid on $9 wash options only at Sheetz stores with a car wash, the release said. Lastly, proof of service is required.

Walk-On’s Sports Bistreaux

On Nov. 11, all veterans and active duty service members who show a valid military ID can get a free Scholarship Burger. No purchase is necessary.

White Castle will honor all veterans with a free combo meal or breakfast combo meal when they dine in at participating locations on Nov. 11.

“This is our way of showing our respect and gratitude to those who have served or are currently serving in the U.S. military,” Jamie Richardson, vice president at White Castle, said in a news release.
