On Nov. 11, 1918, at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, the armistice agreement was signed, effectively ending the Great War. In 1919, President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed Nov. 11 as Armistice Day to commemorate the occasion.
In 1954, following the end of World War II and the Korean War, President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed a bill into law officially renaming the holiday as Veterans Day. This change expanded the holiday's scope to honor veterans from all U.S. military conflicts.

Nov. 11, 9:45 a.m.: Veterans Day Parade – Toms River, NJ
Nov. 11 –12 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.: Veterans Day Weekend at Six Flags – Jackson Township, NJ
Additionally, many local organizations, including schools and civic clubs, participate in events such as 5K runs, fundraisers, and concerts, with the aim of raising awareness and funds for veterans' causes.
