Veterans, first responders can tie the knot for free in Bucks County. Here's how

Love-touched veterans and first responders who were looking to either tie the knot or renew wedding vows will soon have the opportunity to do so, all on the county's dime.

The Bucks County Register of Wills and Clerk of Orphans' Court is providing an annual wedding celebration and vow renewal service for Bucks County veterans and first responders.

The celebration will be held at noon on Wednesday, Nov. 8, in the rotunda of the Bucks County Administration Building, located at 55 East Court Street in Doylestown.

How to apply for the Vows for Veterans wedding ceremonies, vow renewals

Couples that include at least one veteran or first responder are invited to apply for a marriage license as soon as possible to qualify to participate in the free wedding ceremony and reception.

Former Under-Secretary of the Army Patrick J. Murphy will officiate the ceremony.

In addition to the wedding, a vow-renewal ceremony will also be part of this celebration.

Interested couples should email ralandsberg@buckscounty.org as soon as possible. People looking to either donate to the cause or participate in the functions should call Rachel Landsberg at 215-340-8268.

This annual event is also the sixth event hosted by Weddings for Heroes.

The county is setting up a lavish and thoughtful ceremony for the happy couples.

Edible Arrangements Doylestown will set the table arrangement, the Mervin Toussaint Jazz Band will provide the music, Courtney Kanig Photography will handle the picture-taking, and The Novel Baker will provide cupcakes.

The register of wills will also provide a catered lunch and event videographer; the 1740 Country Inn in Lumberville will provide honeymoon gift certificates to couples taking part in the ceremony.
