Veterans show Nov. 13

Oct. 31—NORWALK — The Towne and Country Players, Inc. will open their 57th Season with their Annual Veterans Tribute Show at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 13.

"Music Americana" is this year's production presented by the 75-piece Patriots Symphonic Band and will be performed at McCormick School, the former BGSU Historic Huron Playhouse Summer Theatre, 325 Ohio St., Huron.

The band is made up of both professional and semi-professional musicians and is conducted by Dr. John Knight, professor emeritus, of the Oberlin Conservatory of Music. It is the largest active non-profit volunteer band in northern Ohio. This year's tribute will feature Cleveland's Laura Pedersen as vocal soloist. Her credentials include both International and National appearances with opera, pop orchestras and jazz bands.

Veterans and active military are admitted free to the concert but must order their VIP tickets prior to Nov. 10 to be assured a seat. All other ckets are $15 for the age appropriate show which includes a bevy of patriotic Sousa marches, pop music and the special "Over The Rainbow" dedicated to all veterans. A few surprises during the event, which includes Sandusky's "Miss Liberty," Pa DuBois, have made the tribute show a seasonal popular event.

Veterans Frank Trautman, Sandusky, and Teresa Stamm and Patricia Moyes, Clyde, will host the "Patriotic Prologue" as part of the 90-minute "American-Style Hometown Concert."

Doors open for reserved seating at 2:30 p.m. with the box office opening at 2:15 p.m. Cash and checks are accepted. Proceeds will go toward the next T & C event, which is "Christmas Celebration" coinciding with Norwalk's "Light Up Norwalk." That event will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 27, at First United Methodist Church, 60 W. Main St., Norwalk. Tickets are $12 in advance or at the door and all seating is general.
