Vet's 'corny pet joke' signs win over fans on Facebook: 'OK here it is... What is a dog's favorite drink?'

A veterinary clinic’s display of pet jokes is giving local residents a chuckle.

Dr. Dante Martin and manager Linda Martin opened North Carolina’s Holly Ridge Veterinary Hospital in 2015. Since then, they have used their weekly signs to spread a little laughter throughout the community. The couple also posts the jokes on the hospital’s Facebook page to give the masses a good giggle.

“Linda Martin and Dr. Martin brainstorm together most times, and other times we have a book of corny pet jokes that we use for inspiration,” a Holly Ridge spokesperson told Newsweek.

Here’s just a taste of what the Martins get away with on their awning.

“OK here it is… What is a dog’s favorite drink?” one sign read. “Slush puppy.”

“How many cats can you put in an empty box?” another said. “Only one. After that, the box isn’t empty.”

“What do dogs do when they finish obedience school?” the sign asked. “Get their masters.”

“What do police need when a dog is missing?” a joke said. “A few good leads.”

Not every joke the hospital posts is animal-related, and they often take a break to use the sign to pay tribute on special occasions like holidays, sports events and important days like 9/11.

“We thought it would be a good way to put a smile on our clients’ faces while also connecting to our community,” a Holly Ridge spokesperson told Newsweek. “[We] also wanted something that would attract people as they drove by the clinic while also making them giggle a little.”
