VFW/Legion baseball roundup: Willmar VFW falls to New Ulm Gold

Jul. 13—NEW ULM — Willmar Post 1639 lost 7-2 to New Ulm Gold in a VFW baseball game Tuesday night.

Willmar led 2-0 through two innings.

New Ulm countered with three runs in the third and four more in the fifth..

Connor Smith, Dylan Staska, Cullen Gregory and Braeden Fagerlie all had hits for Willmar (7-8).

Post 1639 is scheduled to play at 6 p.m. Thursday against New London-Spicer at the Green Lake Diamonds in Spicer.

Third-seeded BOLD beat second-seeded Redwood Falls in nine innings in a District VII, Division II South Pod game late Monday at Redwood Falls.

BOLD held a 10-8 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh when Redwood Falls scored seven runs to tie it up.

Josh Kingery smacked two home runs and drove in five runs for the Black Sox. Connor Barker was 3-for-3 with two doubles, a walk and a run and Jaxon Drange-Leyendecker was 2-for-3 with a double, a walk and three RBIs.

Connor Anderson was 2-for-3 with a run for Melrose.
