Via Sophia by the Sea, upscale Italian restaurant, to open in Bethany Beach hotel

A sophisticated Italian restaurant that’s generated solid reviews in hip locales like Washington, D.C., and Kennebunkport, Maine, is opening a third location in Bethany Beach.

Via Sophia by the Sea is slated to open June 14 inside the newly renovated Bethany Beach Ocean Suites Residence Inn by Marriott.

The beachfront hotel’s multimillion-dollar makeover left no surface untouched and includes a new indoor-outdoor pool, according to a news release. Rooms run $300-$350 a night in the summertime.

The 164-seat Via Sophia osteria will feature “classic Italian dishes, pastas and breads, and fresh-from-the-boat seafood." Menu highlights include tagliatelle bolognese, rigatoni fruitti di mare, black cod and class seafood cioppino. Three nights of live entertainment weekly are planned.

The first Via Sophia opened in Washington in 2019 and the second in Maine in 2022. The restaurant is an EOS Hospitality concept, and all three are located within EOS hotels. The Manhattan-based company owns over 40 hotels throughout the country, including Hotel Bethany Beach and The Bellmoor Inn and Spa in neighboring Rehoboth Beach.
