Vic Ferrari’s final local concert kicks off Fourth of July weekend in Manitowoc. Here are 5 things to do.

MANITOWOC - Celebrate Independence Day on the lakeshore this weekend!

From the annual July 3 celebration to Fourth the Shore and Subfest, you won’t want to miss all of the family-friendly fun!

Here are five things to do.

1. Jam with the Glam Band and Vic Ferrari

Start celebrating the Fourth early by heading to downtown Manitowoc for music, food and fun!

In addition to hearing the sounds of The Glam Band, this is the final free concert by Vic Ferrari in Manitowoc County as the band ends its 35-year journey.

This free event takes place from 5 to 11 p.m. Sunday at 720 Quay St. A portion of the refreshment sales will benefit Gumby’s Club Fore a Cure.

2. Watch the Fourth of July Parade

One of the biggest parades in downtown Manitowoc all year is the Fourth of July Parade.

Set up your chair or blanket anywhere from the Courthouse Pub, 1001 S. Eighth St., to the Yacht Club, 815 Maritime Drive, to catch this hour-long parade and the candy that comes with it!

Since parking along the route is not permitted, arrive early to get a spot on a side road or public parking lot so you don’t miss the parade kick-off at 10 a.m. Monday.

3. Tour the Manitowoc Breakwater Lighthouse

One of the coolest things you can do each Independence Day is tour the Manitowoc Breakwater Lighthouse.

The Manitowoc Sunrise Rotary will once again be offering guided tours inside the picturesque lighthouse to educate the public about how lighthouse-keepers used to work and use the structure to guide boats to shore.

With five levels in the lighthouse, there’s something to see for everyone!

The free tours will run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday.

4. Get $4 admission to the Maritime Museum Monday during Subfest

Subfest is happening in conjunction with the Fourth on the Shore, which means $4 admission to the Wisconsin Maritime Museum, 75 Maritime Drive, all day long!

Beat the heat inside the large, cool museum from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday. There are exhibits for children and adults alike, so take the whole family.

Admission to the museum includes self-guided tours of the USS Cobia submarine.

5. Watch the Festival Foods fireworks

The Fourth of July wouldn’t be complete without a fireworks show!

Take a seat anywhere along the shore from the roundabout at Waldo Boulevard to Silver Creek Park for an excellent view of the show.

The fireworks are set to start at 9:30 p.m. Monday and are once again sponsored by Festival Foods.
