Vice Director Wishes Happy Birthday to Christian Bale — Who Shares Birthday with Dick Cheney!

Christian Bale Shares a Birthday with Dick Cheney

Christian Bale and Dick Cheney have more in common than what people might think.

The actor and the former vice president, who Bale portrays in Vice, share a birthday! Both were born on Jan. 30, with Cheney, 78, born in 1941 while Bale, 45, was born in 1974.

The coincidence is particularly relevant as Bale continues earning praise for his performance as the former politician, for which he received an Oscar nomination last week.

Vice writer and director Adam McKay tweeted about the shared birthday on Wednesday, sharing a side-by-side of Bale in Character as Cheney with the man himself.

The actor won the Golden Globe for best actor in a comedy at this year’s ceremony, where he further poked at Cheney by thanking Satan “for giving me inspiration on how to play this role.”

The role required Bale to pack on 40 pounds, something he didn’t mind doing. “It was more fun gaining the weight than losing it,” a slimmed-down Bale told reporters at the film’s world premiere in December.

As for how he gained the weight? “I’ve just eaten a lot of pies, so far,” he told Variety, prior to filming.

Bale’s birthday comes a day after his wedding anniversary to wife Sibi Blazic. The couple celebrated their 19th anniversary on Tuesday with a scenic bike ride along the Californian coastline.
