WASHINGTON — Vice President Kamala Harris tested negative for COVID-19 on Wednesday after she was possibly exposed to COVID-19 on Tuesday, according to a statement released Wednesday.

A member of the Vice President's staff who worked for her throughout the day Tuesday tested positive for the virus Wednesday morning. The staff member, who is fully vaccinated and boosted, tested negative yesterday, Monday and every day last week, according to a statement from chief spokesperson Symone Sanders.

Sanders also said Harris received an antigen test Wednesday morning as part of a regular testing schedule and a PCR test later in the day after being notified of the staffer's condition. Both results were negative.

Other staff members who were also in close proximity were advised to get tested according to guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Harris, who is fully vaccinated, will not quarantine after exposure and will resume her daily schedule.

President Joe Biden tested negative for COVID-19 on Wednesday as well, after coming into contact last week with a White House aide who has since tested positive for the virus.

The White House announced the results Wednesday afternoon after Biden told reporters hours earlier that he had received a PCR test but was waiting on results.
