Victim accidentally shot in head while playing with gun, police say

A person remains hospitalized in intensive care after an accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head while "horse-playing with a revolver" at a home in Northeast El Paso, a police spokesman said Monday.

The shooting occurred Friday night at a mobile home park in the 10300 block of Grouse Road near Sun Valley Drive and Dyer Street, police said.

The victim, who suffered a gunshot wound that police described as life-threatening, remained hospitalized Monday in an intensive care unit, a police spokesman said. The person's name and age have not been disclosed.

A police investigation found that the shooting was the result of an accidental self-inflicted gunshot to the head.
