Victim’s friends detain attempted burglary suspect after break-in; DPD

DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — An apartment break-in in Dothan took a weird turn when police say the suspect attempted to burglarize an apartment, but was apprehended by the victim’s friends.

Police were called to the Oates Estates Apartments in the 3000 block of Flynn Road to reports of a burglary. When officers arrived, two friends of the victim had apprehended Mario Bianchetti, 49 of Dothan as the alleged suspect in the attempted burglary.

Witnesses tell police that Bianchetti kicked open the front door of the apartment and was then confronted by the two friends of the victim. Bianchetti became violent and the two friends were able to detain him for police.

During the struggle, witnesses say Bianchetti bit one of the friends.  Bianchetti was checked at the scene for head and neck pain while the friend also received treatment for the bite.

According to police, this was not the first that Bianchetti had been to the apartment that day, they say earlier in the day he attempted to kick down the door but was unsuccessful.

Bianchetti was arrested and charged with Domestic Violence 1st Degree, Attempted Domestic Violence 2nd Degree, and Resisting Arrest.

He is in the Houston County Jail on a $78,000 bond.
