Victim identified in two-vehicle crash near Mount Vernon

Dec. 9—MOUNT VERNON — A 24-year old Corsica man was the victim in a two-vehicle fatal crash, authorities said Saturday.

Calvin Boluyt was the driver of a 2011 Chrysler 200 who died following a crash at about 10:53 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6, about two miles south of Mount Vernon.

The crash occurred at 397th Avenue and Interstate 90. Authorities say a 2014 Caterpillar highway maintainer, driven by Steven Groseth, 63, of Corsica, was driving north on 397th Avenue. The Chrysler was traveling south on the same road at the I-90 overpass.

The Caterpillar was drifting into the ditch but overcorrected crossing the center line into the path of Chrysler 200, according to the Highway Patrol. The vehicles collided in the southbound lane of the roadway. Boluyt was pronounced deceased at the scene. He was not wearing a seat belt. The driver of the Caterpillar was not injured.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
