Victim of motor scooter accident airlifted to hospital

Jul. 13—SOUTH WINDHAM — A motor scooter accident has landed one victim in the hospital according to Connecticut State Police.

State Police said on Monday at approximately 11 a.m., Chad Dottor, 27, of Johnston, Rhode Island was driving a motor scooter in the area of 88 Machine Shop Hill Road in South Windham when his vehicle crashed.

According to State Police, the scooter sustained damage to the rear and right hand side of the vehicle. Dottor was carrying one passenger: Katelyn Dunbar, 25, of Colchester.

Jan Mott, chief of the South Windham Fire Department, said Dottor and Dunbar claimed that one of the tires failed, causing the accident.

State Police said Dunbar sustained injuries from the accident and was transported by Lifestar to Hartford Hospital via helicopter.

According to State Police, Dottor appeared to have sustained minor injuries.

The vehicle was towed from the scene due to disabling damage, according to State Police.

At the time of the accident, State Police said the road conditions were dry and the weather was clear.

Mott said the South Windham and Windham Center Fire Departments, Willimantic Ambulance and Lifestar responded to the scene.

Mott said the scene was cleared at approximately 12 p.m. on Monday.
